The Petersburg City School District in cooperation with the Petersburg Arts Council donated funds to Compass Theater to match the grant from the Petersburg Community Foundation to replace the original manual movie screen purchased in 1997 that was tattered and torn. The new screen is safer, operated by an electric motor, and constructed of a newer material that has enhanced reflective capabilities. The additional measure of safety for the screen operation should last well into the next decade. The screen is used by Compass Theater, the Petersburg School District, and community groups like the Ski Club.
