Grantee Highlight (2016) – KFSK Digital Public Archive

With grant funding from the Petersburg Community Foundation, KFSK created and operates a community-based website providing free public access to information and entertainment serving 8,000 weekly visitors. The site acts as a storage house for local journalism and an accessible archive of public record.

The website is now five times faster and features the strongest encryption certification available. Storage has also been increased from 50GB to 250GB to stabilize and strengthen KFSK’s capacity for digital storage of community-based news and events. The KFSK website will continue to be a hub for local information and confirmation of news and events serving the residents of Petersburg and surrounding communities for decades to come.

Additionally, in 2012, the Petersburg Community Foundation helped finance part of a major project to replace damaged equipment on Lindenberg Mountain. The signal 91.1FM serves the Petersburg area and North Prince of Wales Island.
